Letter to your best friend

Get a drink, maybe even a snack, and find a comfy seat so you can relax. Let go of all worries and enjoy the next five deep breaths. Please prepare for the first breath in by breathing out.

Now time for your first deep breath; take one deep breath in through your nose for five 1..2..3..4..5.. hold for 1..2.. breath out through your mouth for five 1..2..3..4..5.. Hold for 1.. Breath in for five 1..2..3..4..5.. hold for 1..2.. And out for five 1..2..3..4..5.. hold for 1.. Breathe in for five 1..2..3..4..5.. hold for 1..2.. And out for five 1..2..3..4..5.. hold for 1.. two more to go; breath in for five 1..2..3..4..5.. hold for 1..2.. And out for five 1..2..3..4..5.. hold for 1.. last one deep breath in for five 1..2..3..4..5.. hold for 1..2.. And out for five 1..2..3..4..5.. hold for 1.. now go back to your regular breathing pattern. I hope you feel calm and relaxed.


Last week I wrote about being your own best friend, this week I want you to write a letter to your best friend, that can be to yourself so following from last week’s post, or it can be to a person who you call your best friend. I want you to write to them telling them why they are your best friend, why you are thankful to have them in your life, how having them in your life has made it richer, and how they’ve helped you in a maybe less than great situation, also how they have helped you in a great situation. How they inspire you, how they have helped make you the person you are today, what are some of their mannerisms that you now have, what makes you both so similar, and what makes you besties, in your opinion? Remind them of how you met, why you met, why you have remained besties, how long you have been besties and what you are looking forward to as you continue to be best friends. 

This could also be a work best friend; if it is, then let them know how they get you through your shift, and how they make going to work easier and more fun.


I want you to make your besties’ day. I want you to lift them up and let them know that everything you do for each other is what makes your friendship the best. Tell them you will always be there for them like they are always there for you; remind them that through hard times and good times, you will always have each other’s back. Show them that you care about them just as much as they care about you.

Together let’s appreciate the people we are so lucky to have in our lives; let’s make their world a better place and maybe even make their day that little bit brighter. I would love to know who you are writing your letter to, and when you’ve given it to them, I would love to know what they thought of this lovely gesture. Please let me know in the comments below.
