Musical Theatre Tag

Musical Theatre Tag

Hi Thinking out loud here I'm back with another blog post it's been awhile but I'm back I decided to do something a little different than what I usually do I thought I do something fun to get back into the swing of things, as you can see by the title its the musical theatre tag. :D

1 Plays or musicals?

I like both but it would have to be musicals, I feel like I connect more with something that is sung rather than spoken I feel like emotions are shown more easily and I can get more of a sense of what someone is feeling. That and I connect better to music in general I could quite easily sit and watch musicals all day given the chance.

2 When did you start liking the performing arts?

I've always been interested from the first time I saw a stage production at the Alhambra theatre in Bradford England. Every year we'd go and see a production whether it was a musical or not and every year I got excited knowing I'd be seeing the same people on stage and feeling like I knew them, It used to give me a buzz and I'd talk none stop about it for days. It was something I'd then dream about doing when I was a lot younger.

3 have you ever been in a musical?

I've never been in a musical or stage production of any kind, I've been in school shows but only ever in the choir as I was a shy kid and never felt confident enough to play a big part. As I'm getting older I'd never say never to being in a musical. You never know where something will take you although my shyness and stage fright would be a huge hurdle for me to deal with, but I may get into performing at some point just maybe not in the near future but then again you never know.

4 What was the first musical you saw in the West End?

I've never seen a musical in West End but that is something I would love to do at some point hopefully in the not so distant future. The first Musical I saw on stage was at the Alhambra theatre and it was Joseph and his Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat when I was about six with my whole family including aunties uncles cousins and grandparents. I've also seen this musical many more times with just my mum dad and brother including a school production at a school my auntie used to work at.

5 If you could be any female character in any musical who would you be?

It would be either Eponine from Les Miserables, the narrator from Joseph or Elphaba from Wicked although I haven't seen Wicked yet.

6 Which male character?

Oliver I honestly think he would be an interesting character to portray and i'd love to have a feeling for what it was like for him growing up in a world that is so different from how a child in his situation would be living today.

7 Favourite musical song to sing in the shower?

On my own again from Les Miserables, gravity from Wicked or the prologue from Joseph these are the main songs but it changes all the time depending on what musical i've seen or what song is currently stuck in my head at the time.

8 Who's your favourite theatre actress?

Lea Salonga I feel any character she takes on she is able to bring to life and her voice is just amazing the first time I heard her sing I dreamed a dream I got goosebumps. I do however feel there are many more actresses I could pick and my list could go on so I will mention a couple more. Elaine Paige in Cats for me was amazing, and i'd love to be able to say the ever so talented Carrie Fletcher but I haven't seen anything she has been in yet but I hope to change that. Hopefully I won't have to wait too long but from what I have heard from her already I know she will be someone to definitely watch on stage.

9 Actor?

I have way too many favourite actors so here's three of my top favourites and yes they have all been in the same musical and played the same character, Alfie Boe, Ramin Karimloo and Colm Wilkinson. This list could be so much longer as there are so many talented people in musicals and any stage production but we'd be here a long time if I named everyone.

10 Favorite film adaptation of a musical?

I have three that I love watching two I have watched since being a young child and they are Joseph and the amazing technicolor dreamcoat and Cats which are both by Andrew Lloyd Webber. My third is Les Miserables although I do also love Mama Mia as well. If I could say more then I absolutely would but then that would be every musical i've seen so it would be a little bit crazy.

11 What do you think is the most overrated musical?

From the musicals i've seen none of them have been overrated but that just my opinion I try to see each musical with open eyes and give it a chance, I also hope I never see a musical that I think is overrated i'd much rather sit and enjoy it rather than judge it and be wanting to leave because it wasn't what I was expecting.

12 What musical made you cry?

I don't know what this say's about me but I can't cry at musicals or films I don't know what it is but I just don't cry, however make me listen to an emotional song and i'd be more likely to cry, I think if I were to see Les Mis on stage then I might cry with all the emotions from everyone around me but so far no musical has made me cry.

13 What musical made you laugh?

Mama Mia the part where Meryl Streep has the drill gets me every time without fail I think the cast is amazing and there are so many parts that I find myself laughing and cry because i've laughed way too much.

14 Are there any musicals you saw and hated?

Like with the overrated question I personally haven't seen a musical I have hated and I hope I never see a musical I hate.

15 What musical do you want to see as a film?

I think i'd say Wicked, but I have just looked it up and it seems like it might be already in the works for becoming a film so who knows it could be out pretty soon.

16 Which musicals are you dying to see?

As much as I feel ashamed and although for the last question I said this but i've never actually seen Wicked I do however know some of the songs but I would so badly love to see it on stage and the same goes for Les Mis and Mama Mia I would love to be able to see them live along with so many more musicals I am yet to see.

17 What is you all time favourite musical?

Hands down my all time favourite musical that I can always go to and never get bored is the first musical I ever saw and have loved ever since and I think I will always love this musical it has to be Joseph and the amazing technicolor dream coat I know pretty much all the songs off by heart and always have to sing along for me its at the top of my list.

18 What would you do if theatre didn't exist?

I don't think I'd be able to cope if theatre didn't exist as without it I'd have no musicals and life without musicals would be pretty boring to be honest.

Hope you enjoyed this little blog post I may do another tag next week just as something fun to do sorry this wasn't up on Wednesday and that I haven't uploaded a blog for awhile but I'm back and hopefully I shall be uploading a blog a bit more consistently than I have recently.
