We, Will, Remember Them

Hey Thinking out loud here xx :D
Last weekend here in Australia and New Zealand it was ANZAC Day it’s a day where like Remembrance Sunday/ Day or otherwise known as Poppy Day. It marks the day when our soldiers left to join World War One, It's also a day of remembering those who have joined wars and conflicts since World War One, those who have lost their lives and those who live with the unimaginable memories to save their country and their loved ones.
On Saturday morning while sitting in bed I wrote a little bit of a poem so I thought for this week I would upload it as this weeks blog post. It's only short but I hope it shows that not only Soldiers go to war.
Bellow are two poppies I talk about them in the poem but just thought I would say here why they are different colours the red one the one we see the most and is known worldwide for the soldiers and for hope and the purple one is lesser-known but is for the horses (all animals who lost their lives) standing by these soldiers.
We, Will, Remember Them
By Freya Anastasia Hatfield
A poppy for the soldiers, medical staff and families
A poppy for the animals who unknowingly went to war.
Today I acknowledge not just the people who fought
but the people who tended to the wounded, and to the sick.
To the families who waited to hear from their loved ones
to those who never saw them again.
I acknowledge the animals, not just the horses who were on the front line,
but to those that later helped in therapy and calming ex-soldiers long after the wars were over.
It took more than soldiers to fight the world wars,
it took the love of the ones they left behind, and the strength of those they left behind,
in knowing that what they were fighting for would bring a better and safer life.
Today take time to remember them, never forget them,
always thank them for it is they who risked their lives for our generations
for our parents and our grandparents (even those fighting in the wars)
for it is those we never met and those who we met but couldn't speak of the terror they saw.
Today we remember them as we should every day for they gave us our today's,
at the dawning of the day and the setting of the sun, we will remember them.

As always thank you for reading and thank you to everyone who is still risking their lives during COVID-19, I know some countries are lifting restrictions but please still stay safe, we can all get through this if we keep social distancing as much as we can. Kia Kaha, Kia Maia, Kia Manawa, Me Te Aroha. Be Strong, Be Brave, Be Steadfast, With Love.
Love always Thinking out loud xx :D
