Mindful Monday Week 21

Transformation

Hi, Thinking Out Loud here :D

Welcome to Mindful Monday Week 21

Here is the link for this week's playlist. https://open.spotify.com/playlist/3AgoaCems6Ldoqe1JLLKc2?si=0b7b5d4ca2924406

I hope you enjoy listening to it while reading, and I hope you find the music relaxing.

If ads play during the playlist, please stop reading and wait for the playlist to play again. Hopefully, the playlist is timed for you to read to the end of this blog post, with maybe one song running over after reading.

Get a drink, maybe even a snack, and find a comfy seat so you can relax. Let go of all worries and enjoy the next five deep breaths. Please prepare for the first breath in by breathing out.

Now time for your first deep breath; take one deep breath in through your nose for five 1..2..3..4..5.. hold for 1..2.. breath out through your mouth for five 1..2..3..4..5... Hold for 1... Breath in for five 1..2..3..4..5.. hold for 1..2... And out for five 1..2..3..4..5.. hold for 1... Breathe in for five 1..2..3..4..5.. hold for 1..2... And out for five 1..2..3..4..5.. hold for 1... two more to go; breath in for five 1..2..3..4..5.. hold for 1..2... And out for five 1..2..3..4..5.. hold for 1.. last one deep breath in for five 1..2..3..4..5.. hold for 1..2... And out for five 1..2..3..4..5.. hold for 1... now go back to your regular breathing pattern. I hope you feel calm and relaxed.

Like a caterpillar turns into a butterfly, lion cubs grow into the kings and queens of the jungle, seeds are sown in winter and wait for spring to bloom with explosions of colour, a large jagged rock in the middle of the ocean that, over millennia becomes a small smooth stone, a new house ready to become a home, and a bare tree waiting for warmer days so its leaves can return. It takes time for transformations like these to happen. Over time something beautiful can become another kind of beautiful, not better or worse but different. Each of these things must be patient and let time take its course. None of these transformations happen overnight or even in the blink of an eye; they happen over a season or, in some cases, a few seasons; they take days, weeks and months to transform.

Like a caterpillar, lion cub, seed, jagged rock, new house, and a bare tree, we have to learn to be patient, to let things take the time they need to transform; some things change quicker than others, and that's ok, don’t rush what can’t be rushed. A transformation of any kind will always be worth the wait, no matter how long you have to wait.

It’s like creating a book; for some, it can take a few months; for others, it can take years. Each edit, reread, or rewrite transforms and gets closer to the final copy. Eventually, it becomes ready to be turned into a book, whatever form it becomes, e-book, physical book or an audiobook, maybe even all three.

The transformation from a single idea to a few hundred-page book is beautiful, tiring but an amazing achievement. Throughout the writing process, what was a single word, or an idea for the main character, transforms more than any writer will wish to admit, even those who have been writing for decades and sold thousands of books. Through all of these transformations, a writer will have many doubts that this isn’t good enough, this is amazing, to this is absolute crap, back to I love what I have written, that keeps cycling around until the final copy is ready. Maybe even then, those thoughts will come back, but they don’t give up; they carry on, maybe take a few breaks here and there, but they will always keep coming back. Being a writer, you have to trust the process, trust that what you are writing will transform into something beautiful that, hopefully, a few people will like.

If you aren’t a writer, transformation can just as easily be linked to daily life, from what you have got used to doing and has become a habit to what you may have been dreaming of doing. Set out what you want to do, whether that is changing what's around you or maybe you want to keep things as they are but want to have a little less to do. Say to yourself what you want to do, and start doing something each day to make the change start; it might be slow at first, but soon enough, you will begin to see life-transforming.

When it's been a few months, take a step back and look at what you have achieved; look at the changes, however subtle they are, that you have made. Look at what has transformed in your life, look at where you are and be proud of what you have achieved. It might not be a lot that will have changed, but it will be what needs to happen, and in a few months and as time continues, even more things will transform.

Also, don’t be afraid to put in the work needed for what needs to be changed. Some things just happen, and others need physical work to change or transform them. Don’t shy away when the going gets tough, as that's when the transformation generally is about to start being able to be seen.

Let's finish with a three-deep breath breather.

Take one deep breath in through your nose for five 1..2..3..4..5.. hold for 1..2.. breath out through your mouth for five 1..2..3..4..5.. hold for 1... breath in for five 1..2..3..4..5.. hold for 1..2.. and out for five 1..2..3..4..5..  hold for 1... final breath in for five 1..2..3..4..5.. hold for 1..2.. last breath out for five 1..2..3..4..5.. no hold here you can now go back to your regular breathing pattern.

As always, thank you for taking the time to read this week's Mindful Monday. I really do appreciate everyone who takes the time to read them and listens to what I have to say.

Love always
