Journey

Hi, Thinking Out Loud here :D

Welcome to Mindful Monday Week 20

Here is the link for this week's playlist. https://open.spotify.com/playlist/46wqXXE4u1AMb0cw96UmaX?si=637177a7b86a49ae

I hope you enjoy listening to it whilst you read, and I hope you find the music relaxing.

If an ad plays during listening to the playlist, please stop reading and wait for the playlist to play again. Hopefully, the playlist will is timed for you to read to the end of this blog post, with maybe one song running over after reading.

Get a drink, maybe even a snack, and find a comfy seat so you can relax. Let go of all worries and enjoy the next five deep breaths. Please prepare for the first breath in by breathing out.

Now time for your first deep breath; take one deep breath in through your nose for five 1..2..3..4..5.. hold for 1..2.. breath out through your mouth for five 1..2..3..4..5.. Hold for 1.. Breath in for five 1..2..3..4..5.. hold for 1..2.. And out for five 1..2..3..4..5.. hold for 1.. Breathe in for five 1..2..3..4..5.. hold for 1..2.. And out for five 1..2..3..4..5.. hold for 1.. two more to go; breath in for five 1..2..3..4..5.. hold for 1..2.. And out for five 1..2..3..4..5.. hold for 1.. last one deep breath in for five 1..2..3..4..5.. hold for 1..2.. And out for five 1..2..3..4..5.. hold for 1.. now go back to your regular breathing pattern. I hope you feel calm and relaxed.

We will experience many journeys, and life is one big journey, I know, I know, that is a cliche, but it is a journey. Just think about from when you were born to now; you haven’t stopped moving, thinking, breathing, or living. We don’t know where we will go, the people we will meet, or the things we will see or do. All we know is right here and right now, we may have plans for later this week or even for in a year or two, but much past that, we don’t know what will happen. We can create a life plan, but that will always change, and most likely unexpectedly, which only makes this journey a little more interesting, if not also a little scary.

This, though isn’t the only journey we will have; we can have sub-journeys like family, hobbies and work. These ultimately, though do create the bigger life journey, which I guess makes it all a full circle. These are constantly changing; our journey is always evolving, whether it's for better or worse. I hope for you reading this, it is always for the better.

Some people have religious journeys, some will be spiritual or have their own kind of faith, or maybe you don't follow anything that is deemed a faith or religion, in which case you truly are creating your own journey, and I would love to read what that is in the comments below. These journeys are all different and beautiful; no journey is wrong or right, and what we need to remember is as much as someone's journey differs from our own, we must treat each other the same way we want to be treat. We must give each other the same amount of respect that you would give to someone who has a similar journey as you, whether that comes down to religion or not.

Whatever journey you are on is the one that you are meant to be on; whatever journey your neighbour or friend is on is the one that they are intended to be on. We can't and shouldn't impose our own journeys onto someone else because their thoughts, opinions, or views may differ from our own thoughts, opinions and views. A journey is a fantastic thing to be on; it's life-changing for some and it's life-affirming for others; it can change us, make or even break us. How we adapt if need be and react to our journeys physically or metaphorically will really make a difference in how it turns out.

The saying when one door closes, another door opens, I hope, is a sign that what we do is forever changing; whether you are in a ‘9-5’ job or you are your own boss, no week will ever be the same, you might start your day with the same morning routine and end your day with the same night routine, but what happens during the day is constantly changing, the journey of your work, the direction it’s going in, is changing, it might seem like it’s stagnant,, but it isn’t, there will always be slight changes to what you do. Stand back, breathe, and look at what you did last month compared to this month. I’m sure you will see changes. In a roundabout kind of a way, this is what a journey is, it’s changing, it’s evolving, and it’s knowing that nothing will ever stay the same.

In a year from now, maybe even five or ten years from now, what you are doing will have changed more times than you can probably imagine, but this is your journey, don’t let it stay the same. Let it move forwards, let it evolve as and when it needs to, though don’t go for the first opportunity, also don’t wait for the fiftieth. Hold on to important things and let go of things that are holding you back. If that means a career change at twenty-five, or maybe even sixty, then go for it. Our journeys won’t last forever; make them as fun and as long as you can while you still can. Don’t stop living, don’t stop changing and evolving, but do always do what you enjoy, life's a journey, make it the best journey you could ever have imagined, what you imagine you can make possible, what maybe was once a dream or a thought, could be part of your next journey.

Please share below in the comments what you plan to do or what you are already doing as part of your journey. I would love to read about it, and feel like I’m joining you on your journey for a little while, almost like we are two lost friends meeting at a random place in time.

Let's finish with a three-deep breath breather.

Take one deep breath in through your nose for five 1..2..3..4..5.. hold for 1..2.. breath out through your mouth for five 1..2..3..4..5.. hold for 1.. breath in for five 1..2..3..4..5.. hold for 1..2.. and out for five 1..2..3..4..5..  hold for 1.. final breath in for five 1..2..3..4..5.. hold for 1..2.. last breath out for five 1..2..3..4..5.. no hold here you can now go back to your regular breathing pattern.

As always, thank you for taking the time to read this week's Mindful Monday. I really do appreciate everyone who takes the time to read them and listens to what I have to say.

Love always
